Following last year’s major update for the Expedition, the full-size body-on-frame SUV carries over into 2016 with a couple of minor updates. The Expedition gets the latest version of Sync, dubbed Sync3. The system offers new graphics, quicker performance, and Siri Eyes-Free.

The Expedition also gets a minor bump up in towing capacity – the standard model can now tow up to 9,200 lbs, while the long-wheelbase MAX can tow 9,100. That’s up from 9,000 and 8,700 lbs, respectively.

All Expeditions come with a single powertrain configuration: a 365-hp, 420 lb-ft of torque 3.5-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 paired to a six-speed automatic and four-wheel drive. Though it may lack the expected V8, performance from the boosted V6 is strong, and it feels quicker thanks to the turbochargers’ broad spread of torque. Ride comfort is also a forte, thanks to the Expeditions fully independent suspension and optional continuously adaptive dampers.

The Expedition is available in XLT, Limited, and Platinum trims. Limited and Platinum trims are offered in regular and MAX long-wheelbase forms.

Equipment Group 201A adds heated and cooled front seats with 10-way power passenger seat, leather upholstery, heated second row seats, power folding third-row seat, power tilt and telescoping steering column, memory function for driver’s seat, steering wheel, and pedals, remote starter, dual-zone climate control, Sync with MyFord Touch with 8.0-inch infotainment screen, dual USB ports, SD card reader, and dual 4.2-inch TFT instrument cluster displays, Sony audio system, ambient interior lighting, sideview mirror with integrated turn signal indicators, and power tailgate.

Key options include 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, second-row bucket seats, 3.73 non-limited slip differential, blind-spot monitoring system, rear-seat entertainment system, power moonroof, rear load-leveling suspension, and navigation.
