Model Overview
The Patriot is one half of Jeep's two-pronged approach to the compact crossover market. Sharing underpinnings with the Compass, the Patriot is the more traditionally "Jeepish" of the two, wearing boxy styling that recalls the original Cherokee. The Patriot promises thrifty fuel economy and practical interior space conceived for the Patriot's daily driver mission, but offers low-range gearing to give this handily-sized utility some off-road chops.

Overall Score
Over the course of the many years I have owned my Jeep Patriot I have never had any issues with it. It is an overall great car and is reliable in all types of weather and road conditions. Overall I had a great experience using this car and would definitely recommend it.

On certain vehicles equipped with the Roadside Emergency Kit containing a Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the suspect Kidde fire extinguisher with a new Kidde fire extinguisher with a steel nozzle. On certain vehicles, the power steering hose retention clamp may have been incorrectly positioned during assembly. This could result in a detachment of the low pressure return hose, resulting in a large volume leak of power steering fluid, which would require greater driver effort to steer the vehicle. In some circumstances, the leaking fluid in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the return power steering hose for proper placement of the hose clamp, and reposition the hose clamp as needed.
