Fakerino Amazing Journey December 06, 2017
Overall Score
This car is without a doubt one of the best cars I have ever used in my life. This car has never broke down on me and I've only needed to change the oil once in the 6 years I've had this car. Despite having over 200,000 km on the pedal, I have never had any serious issues with the car and it still functions well to this day.

Issue: On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Note: This is a new recall campaign that includes vehicles that had an airbag inflator replaced under a previous recall or had a replacement airbag installed. The previous recall provided an interim (short-term) repair. Interim repair parts must be replaced with the final repair parts provided in this recall. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the driver and/or passenger-front airbag inflator. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.

On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag inflator.

The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected.

On certain vehicles, a fault in the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system could result in an immediate loss of power steering assist without warning to the driver. This would unexpectedly increase the steering effort force necessary to steer the vehicle at lower vehicle speeds, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Vehicles will receive a special extended warranty coverage of 10 years/240,000 km from first registration. Under this special coverage program, vehicles which experience this condition will have the electric power steering module replaced.

On certain vehicles, the case which houses the Roll-Over Valve (ROV) within the fuel pump module may have been manufactured incorrectly. As a result the case may break or crack, which could allow the ROV to separate, thereby increasing the risk of fuel leakage in a roll-over crash. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel pump module assembly.

On certain Civic, CSX and CSX Type S vehicles, an ABS wheel speed sensor O-ring seal may allow water to enter the rear wheel bearing and eventually cause damage to the bearing, especially in areas where use of road salt is prevalent. In time, the wheel bearing could become loose, which could cause the bearing to overheat. This could cause a wheel to separate from the vehicle, potentially resulting in a vehicle crash with injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace ABS sensor O-ring seals and rear wheel bearings.
