Acura’s smallest sedan continues into 2017 largely unchanged but with a lot of things going for it, including a robust list of safety features despite its luxury segment entry-level price point of $29,590.
The powertrain is the same on all trims: a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated and direct-injected four-cylinder engine (201 hp, 180 lb-ft of torque; 9.4/6.8 L/100 km city/hwy) is mated with a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission and standard steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. The ILX is available only in front-wheel drive.
Safety features available at base trim include Acura’s forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking systems, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control.
Other key features included in the base price: 17” wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, heated power side mirrors, LED headlights, power moonroof, multi-angle rear-view camera with guidelines, remote start, Bluetooth and text messaging functionality, and Siri Eyes Free compatibility.
Buyers must step up to the Premium package to get heated and power adjustable front seats with leather trim, cross-traffic monitoring, blind spot information system, and an eight-inch LED backlit display.
The Technology packages further adds navigation with voice recognition, a premium 10-speaker audio system, the AcuraLink infotainment system, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
At the top A-Spec package, buyers receive the above-listed features plus 18” alloy wheels, fog lights, side skirts and a spoiler, metal racing pedals, and Lux-Suede seating surfaces.
