ACURA_RDX_2007 It just works January 25, 2018
Overall Score
Remember... this is an Acura, so it just works. The fuel consumption for a 4 cylinder tuborcharged engine is terrible and it requires premium fuel. The suspension is harsh, but it performance is great.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the weight sensor for the front passenger seat may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the passenger-front airbag and knee airbag could deploy in a crash that doesn't require them to. Note: If the weight sensor fails, the SRS warning light would turn on in the instrument panel. Safety Risk: An airbag system that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership for an inspection if the SRS warning light is on. If the SRS warning light is on due to a faulty weight sensor, the weight sensor will be replaced. When repair parts are available, Honda will send you a second letter. They will advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the passenger-front seat weight sensor.

Issue: This recall is for low-pressure fuel pumps installed on certain vehicles or sold at dealerships as a replacement part. On certain vehicles, the low-pressure fuel pump could fail. If this happens, the engine may run rough or may not start and the check engine light may turn on. This could also result in a sudden loss of engine power while driving. Note: This is an expansion of Transport Canada recall nos. 2020-236 and 2021-182. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the fuel pump motor.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the seat belt buckles for the driver and front-passenger seats could wear over time and may not latch securely. If this happens, the seat belt could unlatch unexpectedly. Safety Risk: A seat belt that doesn't latch securely could create an increased risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the driver and front-passenger seat belt assemblies. In most cases, the seat belt buckle release buttons will be replaced. If the dealer determines that a buckle can't be repaired, it will be replaced with a new part.

Issue: On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Note: This is a new recall campaign that includes vehicles that had an airbag inflator replaced under a previous recall or had a replacement airbag installed. The previous recall provided an interim (short-term) repair. Interim repair parts must be replaced with the final repair parts provided in this recall. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the driver and/or passenger-front airbag inflator. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.

On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will inspect/replace the driver’s frontal airbag inflator. Note: Honda Canada has created a special Airbag Inflator Hotline for immediate assistance. On certain vehicles, the brake-shift interlock may not function properly at low temperatures. This could allow the transmission gear shift lever to be moved out of the PARK position without depressing the brake pedal. Depending which gear the driver selects, the vehicle could begin to move forward or backward immediately. This movement could result in property damage, or cause the vehicle to strike a bystander, potentially resulting in personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the gear shift assembly stopper.

On certain vehicles, the dealer-installed accessory trailer hitch was not welded properly during manufacturing process. Hitch failure could allow the towed unit to separate from the towing vehicle. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the hitch assembly.
