Audi's four-door coupe, the A7, received a refresh for 2016 so it moves into 2017 relatively unchanged. There is an updated smartphone interface, a Bose surround sound stereo, and new wheels. There really wasn't much to do in the way of small improvements on the A7. It already has possible the nicest interior in the class. It's simple, very tastefully appointed, and well thought it. The exterior styling is elegant and simple, but still just the right amount of aggressive. The A7 competes with the similarly styled swoopy sedans the Mercedes CLS and the BMW 6-series Gran Coupe. The Audi has a nicer interior than either, along with predictable handling. It's also much less pricey than the competition.
The A7 comes with one engine and drivetrain choice, with two power levels. A 3.0L supercharged V6 making 333 hp and routing it through an eight-speed automatic and quattro all-wheel drive, and the competition trim with 340 hp. A7 3.0 comes in two trim levels, Progressiv and Technik. Progressiv gets 19-inch wheels, stop-start, LED running lights, sunroof, power hatch opening and closing with motion activation, three-zone climate control, eight-way power adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel (leather on the seats and wheel), an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Audi multimedia interface, 10-speaker stereo, automatic wipers and headlights, front and rear parking sensors, and Audi drive select (adjustable steering assist and transmission programming). Technik adds auto high beams, rear window sunshades, ventilated seats, a Bose stereo, rear and corner cameras, blind spot warning, and rear collision detection. Sport exterior trim packages are available on both trims, and on Technik, 14-way adjustable massage seats are available as is a driver assistant package with lane assist, cruise control, and collision detection. On Technik models, an all-white leather interior is available with upgraded leather and contrast stitching.
The new for 2017 A7 competition takes the technik features and adds rear quattro sport differential, sport seats, and 20-inch wheels, along with a much sportier suspension. A Bang & Olufsen stereo is available as is night vision. A7 is rated at 11.6 L/100 km city, 7.9 highway. The competition model is not yet rated, but should have only slightly higher consumption.
