The Blazer is Chevrolet’s entry in the mid-size crossover segment. It trades some practicality for sleek styling aimed at setting the Blazer apart from its comparatively plain competition.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
The 2023 Blazer gets refreshed styling and a larger infotainment touchscreen across the line, while RS and Premier get standard wireless phone charging, a feature formerly only offered as an option in Premier models.
Available Trims
Chevrolet offers the Blazer in LT, True North, RS, and Premier trim levels. LT comes with a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine; the other three trims get a 3.6L V6 that is available in LT. A nine-speed transmission are standard with both engines, and all but LT include AWD.
Standard Features
LT trim comes with 18-inch wheels, auto on/off LED headlights, six-speaker audio, a power driver’s seat, a 10.2-inch touchscreen, dual-zone A/C, heated front seats, passive keyless entry, remote engine start, and wireless smartphone integration.
Blazer’s standard Chevrolet Safety Assist suite comprises forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams.
True North adds rear park assist, blind spot monitoring, lane change/rear cross-traffic alerts, auto-dimming side and interior mirrors, a power tailgate, a power passenger seat, leather upholstery, and a garage door remote,
RS models gain 20-inch wheels, hands-free tailgate, a 120-volt power outlet, an 8.0-inch driver info screen, ambient lighting, eight-speaker audio, navigation, a heated steering wheel, and wireless phone charging.
Premier models get power steering wheel adjustments and bright exterior trim elements.
Key Options
An LT Plus package adds adaptive cruise, garage remote, wireless phone charging, power tailgate, and an auto-dimming mirror.
A True North Plus pack brings a digital rearview mirror, navigation, wireless phone charging, surround vision, adaptive cruise, and eight-speaker audio. Some of these items are also included in RS and Premier Safety Plus bundles.
RS and Premier options also include a convenience package of heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, and (in RS only) a power steering column.
Fuel Economy
Chevrolet’s fuel consumption estimates for the Blazer are 10.6/8.0 L/100 km for LT FWD models, and 10.8/8.7 L/100 km with AWD. True North, RS, and Premier are rated for 12.6/9.2 L/100 km with their standard V6.
Competition
Style-wise, the Blazer’s most direct competitor is the Toyota Venza, whose main advantage is its efficient hybrid powertrain. Otherwise, shop the Chevy against the VW Atlas Cross Sport, Ford Edge, Honda Passport, Subaru Outback, Kia Sorento, and Hyundai Santa Fe.
