At the time of this writing, there were a little more than $9,000 in incentives slapped on the hood of the 2020 Ford Expedition King Ranch. Despite that price drop, the brooding SUV before you still rings in at an eye-popping $75,000 before tax – and it’s not even the most expensive version you can buy (nor the biggest). Pickup trucks notwithstanding, paying luxury brand money for something with a Blue Oval badge on the grille might on the surface seem excessive, but this behemoth delivers something that’s rare no matter the price.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the owner's manual doesn't include instructions for how to remove or adjust the head restraint for the centre seating positions. Canadian regulations require this information be included in the owner's manual. Safety Risk: Missing instructions for how to remove or adjust head restraints could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and provide you with an owner's manual insert with instructions for how to remove and adjust the centre seat head restraints.

Issue: On certain vehicles, an electrical problem with the rearview camera could cause it not to work properly. As a result, the rearview image may be distorted or not display at all. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the rearview camera.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the Pre-Collision Assist System was not programmed correctly. As a result, the Forward Collision Warning, Dynamic Brake Support, and Automatic Emergency Braking features will not work. Note: This recall only affects vehicles with Ford Co-Pilot360, not those with the optional Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist technology. Safety Risk: If the Pre-Collision Assist System does not work properly, it may not detect a frontal crash or reduce its severity. This could create an increased risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the vehicle software.

Issue: On certain vehicles, a problem with the front passenger seat belt buckle may cause the occupant classification system (OCS) not to work properly. In some cases, this could cause the airbag system to turn off the passenger-front airbag, even if an adult is seated in the front passenger seat. Alternatively, the airbag may not be turned off when a child seat is installed in the front passenger seat. Note: This problem may cause the airbag warning light to turn on. Safety Risk: An airbag that deploys in front of a child seat, or an airbag that doesn't properly deploy in front of a passenger could increase the risk of injury in a crash Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to replace the front passenger seat belt buckle.

Issue: On certain vehicles, seats with a manual recliner may not meet the strength requirements of Canadian regulations. A seatback with reduced strength may not properly restrain an occupant in a crash. Safety Risk: A seatback that moves in a crash could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for an inspection of the driver and front passenger seat recliners. For 2020 model year Explorer and Aviator, dealers will inspect the rear outboard seats. The seat structures will be replaced as required.
