Cdnulsterman Great comfort but shame about its electric doors December 28, 2020 EX
Overall Score
Bought our Oddy used with high hopes of that great Honda reliability. Very comfortable, great driving experience with more cup holders than you could ever dream of. Not even 7 months of ownership and the electric door cable snapped, thankfully was able to force it closed. Took it to the dealership and was told that it would be $1500 to fix, said it was wear and tear. Very frustrating as this should not fail on a 2.5 year old minivan. Contacted Honda Canada who got a 50% discount for us. They said we should have taken extended warranty... Would expect this on a dodge minivan.

Issue: On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Note: This is a new recall campaign that includes vehicles that had an airbag inflator replaced under a previous recall or had a replacement airbag installed. The previous recall provided an interim (short-term) repair. Interim repair parts must be replaced with the final repair parts provided in this recall. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the driver and/or passenger-front airbag inflator. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.

On certain vehicles, the seat recliner mechanism for the second row left (driver’s) side seat may have a manufacturing error. If the second row left side seat walk-in feature (which folds the seatback and slides the seat forward for access to the third row) is operated while the seat is in the full recline position, the recliner cam could over rotate. When the seatback is returned to an upright position, there is a potential for the seatback to stay in unlocked position or unexpectedly unlock without engaging the lever. In the event of crash, an unlocked seatback could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will test the seat to confirm proper operation. If the seat recliner is found to be operating properly, a stopper bracket (which limits the rotation of the cam) will be installed on the seat recliner mechanism. In cases where the seatback does not function properly, dealers will replace the seatback frame assembly and a stopper bracket will be installed and proper operation will be verified.

On certain vehicles, a seal in the brake master cylinder may be susceptible to damage which can result in a leak if certain conditions exist. The polymer content affects the amount of lubrication the brake fluid provides to brake system components that are exposed to brake fluid. If the brake fluid is replaced with a low polymer brake fluid, and the brake fluid is subsequently subjected to a manual brake fluid bleeding procedure, as opposed to an automated brake bleed procedure, it is possible for the seal at the end of the brake master cylinder primary circuit to become twisted within its retention groove. If this seal becomes twisted, it can result in a leak of a small amount of brake fluid each time the brake pedal is applied. Should a leak occur, after some time the driver will be alerted by the illumination of the low brake fluid indicator light on the meter panel before any effect on braking performance results. If the driver continues to drive the vehicle without refilling the brake fluid reservoir, the vehicle will eventually exhibit a soft or spongy brake pedal feel, requiring more stroke to achieve equivalent braking force. Eventually, if this continues un-remedied, braking performance will be affected, and will finally result in a low pedal and a loss of one braking circuit. Correction: Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder seal cup and the master power assembly if brake fluid has leaked.

On certain vehicles, during the self-check process that occurs shortly after each time the engine is started, the self-diagnostic software for the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) brake modulator causes a condition that can allow air to enter the modulator pump. Over time, and after starting the engine numerous times, it is possible for enough air to enter the system to change the brake pedal feel and affect braking performance. Reduced braking performance could lead to a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will remove existing air in the brake system then apply sealant and caps to the VSA modulator to prevent air from entering the brake system.

On certain vehicles, a rear wheel speed sensor may not have been installed correctly, which causes the sensor to report an incorrect wheel speed to the anti-lock brake system (ABS) control unit. The on-board diagnostic system quickly identifies this error under most normal driving conditions and activates numerous warning lamps and disables the ABS. Brake application below the ABS threshold, or after ABS is disabled, is not affected. However, if brake application exceeding the ABS threshold occurs before the malfunction is detected, the ABS control unit may reduce brake force to all wheels. An unexpected loss of brake force can cause a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect the rear wheel speed sensors. If an incorrect gap is detected, the sensor will be removed and the knuckle checked for cross-threading damage and replaced, if necessary.

Certain operating conditions can result in heat build-up between the countershaft and secondary shaft second gears in the automatic transmission, eventually leading to gear tooth chipping or, in very rare cases, gear breakage can occur. Gear failure could result in transmission lock-up. Correction: On vehicles with 24 000 kms or less, the dealer will update the transmission with a simple revision to the oil cooler return line to increase lubrication to second gear. On vehicles with more than 24 000 kms, the dealer will inspect the transmission to identify gears that have already experienced discoloration due to overheating. If discolouration exists, the transmission will be replaced. If discolouration is not present, the dealer will perform the revision to the oil cooler return line.
