Issue: This recall is for low-pressure fuel pumps installed on certain vehicles or sold at dealerships as a replacement part. On certain vehicles, the low-pressure fuel pump could fail. If this happens, the engine may run rough or may not start and the check engine light may turn on. This could also result in a sudden loss of engine power while driving. Note: This is an expansion of Transport Canada recall nos. 2020-236 and 2021-182. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the fuel pump motor.

Issue: On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Note: This is a new recall campaign that includes vehicles that had an airbag inflator replaced under a previous recall or had a replacement airbag installed. The previous recall provided an interim (short-term) repair. Interim repair parts must be replaced with the final repair parts provided in this recall. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the driver and/or passenger-front airbag inflator. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.

Issue: On certain cars, the right axle half-shaft could detach. This could cause a loss of power to the drive wheels. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied, this could allow the car to roll away. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the drive wheels or sudden, unexpected movement of the car could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their car to a dealer to inspect the right driveshaft. If the driveshaft is not fully engaged to the half-shaft, the driveshaft and half-shaft will be replaced.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the bottom of the fuel tank could be deformed. This could cause the fuel gauge to display the wrong fuel level. This could cause a driver to believe there is fuel when the tank is empty. Safety Risk: The vehicle could unexpectedly run out of fuel and stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer for an inspection of the fuel tank. All affected fuel tanks will be replaced.

On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will inspect/replace the driver’s frontal airbag inflator. Note: Honda Canada has created a special Airbag Inflator Hotline for immediate assistance. On certain vehicles equipped with halogen headlamps, headlamp reflectors and lenses could overheat if the headlamps are operated while the vehicle is not in motion. This could damage the lamp reflector, affecting photometric output. If left on for extended periods, the headlamps could melt, resulting in smoke and increasing the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the headlamps.

On certain vehicles, if the manual or power door lock is activated while an interior front door handle is being opened, the cable connecting the interior door handle to the door latch mechanism may become loose and move out of position. If this occurs, the door may not latch when closed. If it does latch, the door could then open unexpectedly once the door locks are operated. A door opening while the vehicle is underway could allow an unbelted occupant to fall from the vehicle and sustain personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the front door latch assemblies. In addition, the interior front door handles will be replaced on certain 2012 CR-V vehicles.
